Our Simplified Process

With an experienced team who are pioneers of medical tourism since 2004 we have developed a very comprehensive, yet simplified process that can be expedited quickly with your full co-operation, feedback, and submission of required information. Unlike many facilitators we do not charge for our consultation services and your surgery treatment will be the same price as going direct to the hospital. Our process is broken into three primary phases; discovery phase, booking phase, and travel phase.

Discovery Phase

  1. Investigate and review some of the Procedures, Hospitals, or Destinations that we offer on our website. If you have any questions or want to get some budgetary pricing, simply make an INQUIRY on the Medaway website. There are some procedures we offer that are not listed. Based on your location, the procedure and/or destination selected you will automatically receive some pricing comparisons and be assigned a client consultant.
  2. Your client consultant will contact you within 48 hours for more specific details and discuss with you the process and further understand your health care requirements. Your client consultant will access:
  • Are you a good candidate for medical tourism
  • Your physical needs and potential limitations
  • Your emotional needs and mental attitude
  • Your concerns
  • Your expectations
  • Your budget
  • Your time frame
  • And, perhaps, your next steps moving forward

By discussing these points, we can determine if medical tourism is right for you, and if so, together we can find the best overall value based on your needs.

  1. During the discovery phase, you should also determine if you have medical coverage by contacting your employer, or insurance company. Please refer to our Insurance FAQ’s. Whether you are insured or not, your case manager can help you with understanding your insurance options.

For many medical procedures, the doctor will need to see your transcripts, MRI’s, x-rays, photos, etc. In order to better facilitate this process, we will need to receive copies of these documents. We'll send you a confidential and private link to submit these files via our Medaway dropbox. To ensure your total privacy, this process is absolutely secure and in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Although Medaway health is not required to comply with HIPAA as we are not classified as a “covered entity” we feel that all of our processes should follow HIPAA regulations, and thus we use HIPAA as a guideline for our policies and procedures.

If you need assistance obtaining you medical information please refer to our section on medical records. Protecting your personal health information is paramount to us at Medaway therefore, we have instituted HIPAA-compliant forms that require your authorization to release and utilize your medical information provided by your health providers.

Booking Phase

  1. Once you have made the decision to move forward your client consultant will direct your through the simplified secure booking process on our website.
  2. You will be asked to enter your personal information, your medical information, and be directed to the payment section. You will only be asked to pay for your accommodation and flights. You will pay your surgeon directly following your consultation.
  3. Once we receive your payment you will receive the following:
    1. Pre-departure information – a very comprehensive guide outlining everything you need to know about your destination including all contact details when you arrive so you can give these to friends and family.
    2. Itinerary – All the information on your flight, accommodation, pre-consultation, lab, and surgery times. Including these post follow up information.
    3. Receipt – Receipt and cancellation policies
    4. Informed Consent – This will outline the procedure and all risks associated with your surgery procedure. You will be asked to sign this following re-consultation with the surgeon during the hospital admission process.

Travel - Arriving in Your Destination

  1. On your arrival at the destination, you will be received by a Medaway Service Manager at the airport and accompanied to the hospital/hotel for the admission process. You will then meet with your Surgeon/doctor and health care team to discuss about your treatment plan and review your documents.
  2. Once you are fully satisfied that you have made the right choice of provider, after reviewing the hospital , facilities and documentations, you may provide consent for your Treatment/surgery, pay the estimated amount costs to the hospital by credit card, travelers checks, wire transfer or cash. Your Treatment team will then guide you through the processes to undergo the Treatment as planned by your surgeon/doctor. At any point of the process, If you are not satisfied about your choice of Surgeon/doctor/hospital or for any reason decide not to undergo your treatment , you will be refunded.
